Ok - so you're engaged, and it is completely daunting as to where to start, right? There is literally so much to think about, and it is hard to prioritise what is most important.
The first three steps that you should take are the most important, and you have to be completely sure because if it's not right - you're not going to have a good day. It is up to you which or the three steps to prioritise, dependent on whether your heart is set on a date, or a location.
1. The Date
There are so many things to consider when choosing your wedding date. Do you want a winter wedding? A summer wedding? If there's no date that you have your heart set on as a couple, then choosing your wedding day can be intimidating. The day of the week is another thing to consider - Wednesday and Saturdays being the most popular. Venues often offer lower rates for midweek weddings if you're on a budget!
2. The Venue
To me, the venue was the most important thing to consider, rather than the date - we were more than happy to fill an available Saturday slot around May/June time. There are so many different types of venue available to consider. Firstly do you want to get married in a church? Your venue? Or even outside? there are so many options for all types of wedding, and I will be doing posts on each type of venue for those of you struggling.
Things to consider when looking for your venue are the rough numbers of people you want to attend (numbers might not be viable for your chosen venue) the ceremony and the breakfast, and your wedding's theme (you wouldn't want your chosen theme to not fit in with the venue).

3. Book your Registrar
Trust me - if you envisioned getting married at 1pm on your chosen Saturday - book your registrar ASAP! Even if you're thinking, 'I'm not getting married until 2018', 'I'll book it next week - it'll be fine'! Well, it's not! They will get booked up, but you've already booked your beloved venue, and heart set on a date, and you'll end up struggling to decide whether the 12pm ceremony will give you enough time to get ready, or whether the 2pm one will be too long to wait for your hubby-to-be to become your hubby. Trust me - I know! So contact your local registrar - their details are found easily via a quick Google search!
It costs £100 to secure your chosen date and time, with the balance to be paid 6 weeks before your wedding date. There is also a £35 notice of marriage fee per person to be paid.
Lots of love,
Kelly
